Just when you thought a sports watch couldn't get any better, Suunto introduces the X6 HRM (New for 2004). These are truly the next generation in sports watches packed with all of the technology that Suunto enthusiasts have been craving.
Designed for "Cross Sports" applications, theX6 HRM is essentially the same watch as the Suunto X6 but with added benefits of a heart rate monitor. Utilizing a cell-phone like interface, Suunto has simplified the process of navigating though the multitude of functions with graphical displays and scrolling menu systems.
The X6 HRM is not only a sports watch its also an Altimeter, Barometer, Thermometer, Compass, and Heart Rate Monitor but the data is PC Downloadable (currently only via serial port, and no support for Macintosh) so you can track all of your vital information. Once your data is downloaded to your PC, it can be analyzed with the included software, and uploaded to SuuntoSports.com, where you can refine, share, and compare your data with fellow Suunto enthusiasts. A truly unique experience only available for the newest Suunto watches.
What sets the X6 HR and X6 HRM apart from other heart rate monitor watches is the monitor belt. In the past, Suunto has utilized PolarĀ® technology for their heart rate monitors. However, Suunto wanted to improve accuracy and functionality so they brought it in-house. The result is wireless communication with a graphic profile of heart rate, display of average/highest/lowest rate, memory capacity for different intervals, interval reminder, and the battery is consumer replaceable.
The X6 was named by Outdoor Magazine as Gear of the Year. The 2004 X6 HRM has a green LCD with black numbers and a stainless steel ring has replaced the inner plastic ring next to the bezel.
What is the difference between the X6-HR and the X6-HRM?
The HRM has a durable and attractive metal case (looks a lot like the Observer with an elastomer strap and a slightly thicker watch body) versus the durable, plastic body of the HR. The metal casing makes the X6-HRM a "dressier" watch than the X6 HR. Both watches are built with identical technology and features.
