TRACK-TIME 3-Hand Watch

_______________________

Q 1) What do I have to adjust on this watch?

This watch operates automatically and updates itself from a coded radio signal broadcast by the powerful DCF longwave transmitter in Frankfurt, Germany. Accuracy is maintained to the second on a continuous basis.

The default setting for TRACK-TIME watches supplied to the UK market is DCF time minus 1 hour, which is the UK time.

The watch automatically adjusts for summertime (BST) and wintertime GMT and no adjustment should be necessary

If the watch has been unable to receive the radio data signal, perhaps due to being deep within a metal-framed building, or held within a metal drawer it may drift slightly from the exact time as it relies on time signal updates to maintain absolute accuracy.(see question 2)

In the event that your watch is not telling the exact time as determined by the BBC time-signal then place the watch close to a south-facing window overnight and it will update itself automatically and will tell the exact time subsequently

Q 2) What does the button at the 2-oclock position do?

The button at the 2-oclock position (Button B) has several functions.

If you press this button the digital display changes from displaying the date to show the moving seconds in digital format.

The right-hand part of the window shows number of days since a successful radio update was received by the watch. Under most circumstances the right-hand figure in the digital window should show "0"

The digital display automatically reverts to the date after three seconds.

If the Indicator does not show "0" days then the watch has not been able to correct itself and the displayed time may not be absolutely accurate. Try to find a a south-facing window where the watch may be left at night to give the watch the best chance of receiving the radio data signal.

Q 3) What does the concealed button at the ten o-clock position do?

This button (Button A) at the 10-oclock position is used to alter the displayed time by One Hour increments. For instance, you wish to display the correct time in a European country when you go on holiday. In this case European time is commonly 1 hour more the British time.

Use a pencil or similar pointed instrument to operate. Please note that this button is best operated when the wrist-watch is removed from the wrist.

Pressing button A for three seconds or more will change the display in the digital window to show the current hour. Each subsequent press of button A will advance the hour by one complete hour. The hour hand on the watch will start to rotate to display the new hour zone required.

Q 4) What happens when I change the battery?

When the battery is removed the watch must be reset so that all hands point to the 12 o-clock position.

Once the battery has been replaced (Lithium CR1620 3V) the digital window shows the letter The hours and minute hands can now be set exactly to the 12 position by pressing button A. Holding down A will make the hands move continuously. The hands may be "jogged" by short presses of A until the exact 12 o-clock position is achieved for the hour and minute hand. Pressing Button B will confirm this as the correct position the digital display changes to S  and now the second hand can be jogged into position with button A.

When the second hand is correctly positioned press button B for 3 seconds or longer to confirm that the setting is now correct. (If you miss the exact 12-o-clock position in either of the above operations then you will have to continue rotating the hands until you are able to stop them exactly at the 12-oclock position.)

Now leave the watch, preferably near a window for best results and within minutes the watch will find the coded radio signal and reset itself to read the correct time.

Q 5) The watch is exactly ONE hour fast, why is this?

It is possible that the watch has set itself to Central European time, which is the standard time code broadcast by the German Frankfurt transmitter.

To correct this to read UK time read the answer to Q3 above. You will have to press button A once for 3 seconds then again 23 separate presses until the digital window reads the current UK hour. Once this is displayed press button B within 3 seconds to confirm that this is the correct hour. The watch hands will rotate until the correct UK time is shown.

Q6 What happens if I press both button simultaneously?

Pressing both buttons A & B, and holding them for more than 3 secs in this position will cause the watch to automatically re-set all functions. This has exactly the same effect as replacing the battery. Only perform this operation if all attempts at adjustment by other methods have failed. The letter H will appear in the digital window, then follow the instructions given in the answer to Q 4
